Default xm radio is installed! sounds very good -- supposed to be cd-quality...

and that's about the way it sounds...lots of channels...lots of interesting new stuff...lots of sports...will take me a while to get comfortable navigating around...haven't found any "dead" spots yet -- i'm driving down to white sulpher springs, wv on monday (the extreme southeastern corner of the state -- about 4.5 hours from here), so i'll give it a workout then.

Default What was involved in the install?

I assume you replaced your entire stereo, right?

Default

Looks like from the web site it's a box and an antenna, uses existing stereo if you want.

Default There are a lot of ways to do it...I am installing the in-line RF module in my A6 tomorrow...

I opted for this because then you can move the unit from your car to your home (or other car)

Default Pioneer. Big box retailers have them. BUT I think I was wrong about it using your

existing stereo, upon further research. The inline receiver needs a compatible head unit. This is from looking at product on Cicuit ****ty's website.

Sony and Alpine also has some. You can sample the radio stations at http://www.xmradio.com

Default correct the headunit has to have the XM circuitry in order to receive the signal.

Each company makes their own XM module, I don't know if say a Sony XM unit would work with a Kenwood XM Ready headunit.

Default tom -- i replaced the head unit because i wanted navigation...

so i got an alpine (pioneer and sony also make xm radio receivers) -- i also needed to get a small tuner box (placed in the back of the tt behind the liner on the driver's side left) and an antenna (looks sorta dorky, but not too bad).

you can get portable units (to take from car to home, etc.) and a unit that plugs into your existing head unit (i believe it ties into the antenna input).

Default Did you go w/the FM module or a new head unit? (more)

If so, where are you mounting the controller?
What about the antenna? What did you decide?
Also, did you put the box in the trunk?

I looked at it today and my only issue is the antenna placement.

Thanks!
