Default Whoops, posts crossed paths regarding the new head unit....

what about the antenna? Which one did you decide on?

I was thinking that I could pop the cell antenna and put the radio one there. What do you think?

Default as far as i know, terk makes a couple of different xm radio antennas...

one is a vertical "stick" type that is a glass mount; and one is a "blob" that glues on (i got the latter) -- i put it next to the existing phone antenna to get the best view of the satellites...i don't know why you couldn't take the phone antenna out and place the "blob" antenna it over the hole -- running the new xm antenna wire up through it.

Default Great, thanks. I saw the terk "blob" today, and that's the one I would consider....

if possible, a pic would be appreciated when you have time!

Default anne and i just got a digital camera today as a family holiday gift...

i'll try to take a picture of it this weekend and post it -- that will give me the opportunity to learn how to use the digi-cam (were we the last people in america to get one?) and to figure out how to post a shot here...you'll be able to see my antenna "farm" (phone, navigation, and xm radio)!

Default Hey! After re-reading your other post, I have a couple questions....

You said you got an alpine headset, but the sales rep I talked to today said that Alpine was betting on Sirius (XM-Radio competitor due out in February) and programmed their headsets for that service. Apparently that's incorrect!?!

Also, do you have the stock (panasonic) cd changer? The guy also told me that I can't get a new headset (Pioneer or sony) cause it isn't compatible with my changer.

Curiouser and curiouser......

Default alpine, sony, and pioneer make xm radio compatible head units...

i know that kenwood is going with sirius (and others will as well) -- eventually, they'll all play with both), so you're info was incorrect.

if you change the head unit, you will have to change the cd-changer, or get an adapter that will allow the panasonic changer to work with another head unit (i don't know if there are adapters for the alpine, sony, or pioneer head units)...i got an alpine cd changer (but didn't get the stock cd changer).
