Default yellow paint dot on parts...

Almost every part I replace on my car has a little dab of yellow paint on it. I am assuming this signifies the part is the one that was originally on the car? Can someone confirm this for me?

Default I'll bet it has more to do with a final inspection point....

notice that this paint covers more than just one part.
it looks to me to be paint applied at crucial points in the assembly after inspection. some seem to be at crucial ground points for example.

Default I just replaced my coolant temp sensor, and it has a yellow dot on it.

My stock DV had a yellow dot on it, and of course it's on my bolts, and various grounding points as well. I was just suprised to see it on the temp sensor since that was almost completely covered with the connector.
