Default Yet another tire question

New to the forum, but have read through most of the archives on tires. Based on majority opinion I will be getting steel wheels and 16" winter tires (still deciding which ones) but have a question on the summer ones. It seems that the Bridgestone 040's get universal thumbs down on several counts. When it comes time to replace them I would like to get something that is good in wet and at least reasonable in snow in case I get caught before I have switched. Any thoughts?<p>'01 TT roadster, silver & black. Delivery on October 1. Can't wait. Also have A-4 and A-6 wagon (my son got my first A-4)

Default Suggest going to www.tirerack.com and access all season perfromance tires...

and read tests and customer comments. Going to all season you will loose some traction/handling characteristics of the 'ultra performance' class of tires since they do not come as 'all season' (summer rating only). A tire that is getting rave reviews (dry and wet weather handling) that is 'ultra performance' is the Toyo T1S (you need to go to the Toyo website for info since TireRack does not carry the Toyo brand). There are a lot of excellent tires out there...unfortunately RE040s are not one of them <p><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/annapolissig.jpg" BORDER=0>
