Default Yet another turbo writeup.

Took the car out of garage after more than a year.

ok before driving it, I was anoyed about the DP i made long time ago.. which was huge and funny.

I hate internal wastegate that ATP gave me. it never worked perfect and degraded completley by now.

anyhooo... i decided to take the dive in my shallow pocket to put an External WG.

Its a hassle to remove the turbo out again... i couldn't even take off the ATP manifold - lol bolts are on tight. So after few hours I gave up on the manifold, but did get the turbo out and disconect all the lines.

Since I can't get the ATP manifold out, i decided to weld inside the car where the manifold is to mock up the location for the External waste gate relative to the turbo etc.

After cursing a lot I got it done. None of the bends I got would fit to make the new downpipe - curses..

Took me ages to make all those small cuts and welded forever. you can kind of see the orignal DP on the left bottom corner.

Did i mention after putting everything together - i had to take out the Tial External WG out.. because the spring would open on its own (0.4bar) due to the back pressure in the exhaust?

At 5000rpm the boost flutters (stayed 5psi) because I am guessing here that the exhaust backpressure and the spring combined were just too weak.

Its an important lesson - put at least 1bar - which on mine registers 12psi. Now it stays solid so far. I haven't gone up to 24psi yet but I gota pass emssion now to get insurance.

well i will write up if i get anything else done.. or blow up. (touch wood)

wow! why didn't you get a pre-fabbed DP or simply use mandrel bend parts?

Default I'm not sure if there is a DP for gt25/40, but it could have been easier to modify another DP for a

different turbo. Allthough if you're going to cut up a DP, might as well make one from scratch and to your liking. Either way...great job and welding skilz :-)
