Checked with my dealer yesterday who had told me they would have specials on wheels/tires for winter soon. They didn't have anything yet, but when I asked if they'd be steel wheels (hoping for cost savings) they said that steel wheels would NOT fit over my brake calipers. <hmmm I thought, obviously something amiss here...>
Where'd you guys get your steel rims that fit the TT... what sizes, and any suggestions regarding fit would be really appreciated.

Pure disinformation from your dealer... or perhaps they are looking to make a little extra $ from selling you some alloy wheels instead.
In any event, check out Tire Rack (see link, use the "Shop by Vehicle" search tool) for winter tires/wheels. I paid about $700 for my 16" steel wheels mounted with Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22 tires. They stick like glue in the winter!
