Default Zymol Users: Thinking about waxing...

It's been a couple weeks since the first wax.
Not sure how I should go about doing it the second time.

I know HD Cleanse is the paint cleaner and removes oxidation from the paint.

The question is... if there is a coat of wax on the car (actually several coats) is there really a need to go through HD cleanse again?

I would think that putting new coats (sans HD Cleanse) would make the car's wax last longer since it would build up on the protection it has already and will also create more shine.

If I go through HD cleanse won't it strip all the wax I put on there the first time? To think all that work will go down the drain just doesn't seem right to me.

I used Concours wax the first time. Should I stick to the same type of wax or can I also use Destiny on the car? Will putting coats of different waxes cause harm or is there any reason that it should not be done?

I also bought Zymol field glaze. When should I use it? In what intervals? Every other wash perhaps?

Your opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Default yes.

if you HD Cleanse it will take off any existent wax. I would only use it if you have reason to believe there might be some kinda build-up or you are feelinging imperfections on the surface. I have always layered zymol wax (or P21s) and it seems to work just fine.

Just wash the car & then put on another coat of Zymol.

Default Wash thoroughly; if the surface is smooth, then wax away.

And layer as desired.

The Zymol CD has more tips on this, but in general, HD-Cleanse will remove most of the wax, if not all of it. Layering coats does add protection, to a point. Again, the Zymol CD has the details, but one coat lasts about a month; two, about 1.5 months, and three lasts about three months. After that, the shine gets deeper, but there's not a lot of additional protection--it just wears off. I've done four and even five coats, but they're pretty well gone after three months. For winters, I go with three coats in Sept. and another three in Jan.

As for "mixing", I don't think there'll be any adverse effects, but the different composition of the waxes may affect the boundary layer between them a little. I wouldn't worry about it.

Field glaze (unless you're Rahul -- then it's for al fresco cooking) is used when you need a touch-up. For example, I washed 42N8 Monday afternoon, but there were a couple of spots that had some minor dirt after driving home. A few minutes with field glaze and a couple of towels (one to wipe away the grime, the second to buff) and the shine's back. HTH. Cheers!

Default You are right about everything but...

I talked to the people at Autodetail.com extensively about this subject, and found that the different names of the waxes and glazes don't mean crap. All it boils down to is that the more white (I believe that is the best one) carranuba wax content, the more money you are going to pay. So, if you follow that reasoning, the $1500 Estate Glaze or whatever it's called, is the best protecting wax out there, for ANY car, regardless of color, type of car (SUV, sedan, etc), or type of paint. So buy the best Zymol wax you can afford, because that stuff is the bomb.

And yes, you don't have to use the HD Cleanse every time. Once every six months is what I believe it says.

So use whichever wax you want. Don't worry about mixing them, because they are the same formula's, just different amounts of the good wax.
