Anyone investigate if a compact spare will fit under the trunk floor of a 2.0 TTR?

Default They also have a post for mounting the donut - my theory..

Somewhere in the world Mk II TTs are being sold with donuts. My guess is the Audi engineers and accountants decided that the combo of run flats and USA legislated presure monitors meant that they could delete the donut for USA sales. Saves a few pounds and bucks. I just can't believe Audi would have incurred the increased production cost of forming the donut cutout and post in a car that could not use the donut.

In any event, I loaded my donut into the trunk of a 2.0 and the remaining trunk space appears to be about the same as a Mk I quattro TTR.

Mine will have 19"s w/o runflats - I may purchase a donut for the spare

Default I'd venture to guess

the tooling required to form two unique back ends -- one for a donut and one without -- probably offset the much smaller cost of designing the cutout only.
