They are both turbos but in the community they are generally refered to as fsi (old style) and tfsi(new style)due to the difference in what's written on their engine covers.
They have identical output rating in any transverse mounted engine application.(tt/a3/gti/passat/tiguan/eos) however in longitudinal(a4) setup they incorporate variable valve lift which is what gets you all that extra torque.
If you are looking at your motor it's easy to tell which one you have. If your engine cover is attached to the front inlet of the car for the air intake it's a bpy. If you have a separate airbox you hae a TFSI.

Well, I don't have a 2.0 in either of my cars, so for once I can say I'm not up on it because I've got enough to worry about. I realized the new A4's used valve-lift, but didn't make the connection to that being where the extra torque came from (until you mentioned it)...
But basically what you're saying is it's the same setup, it's simply a different engine cover? (where obviously as you said, the airbox is seperate)

The CCTA has a timing chain and a much better fuel pump akin to what the FSI aftermarket pumps are.
Aside from that it has a lower compression ratio(9.5:1 I believe) than the FSi which is 10.3:1. It also has a different turbo which is manufactured by IHI instead of borg warner; however it was a joint BW/IHI venture so the specs are quite similar to the KO3 turbo in the base 2.0ts.

but with red, and wanted some parts on the car red to match it up but I just couldnt figure out which parts or what to do in red to match it all to the rims. I think black rims with a red ring and a small amount of red on the car would look awesome. I need someone like that foose guy from over haulin to do up a drawing for me.

1. It was an FSI motor!
2. I remember putting the hood up but I think we had it closed on its first pull. Your correct about the cooling issues and these fans have some FLOW! I'll keep that in mind for next time!!!
3.We didn't do a baseline pull, I wish we would of...anyone know the baseline numbers for a TT FSI motor?
