BMW xDrive versus Quattro (regular and Haldex versions)
I am considering a 335xi after many years as a loyal Audi enthusiast.
The cars I might consider from Audi are the TT Quattro or the A5 Quattro but I am frustrated by the 3.2L engine's poor efficiency/power output ratio (as compared to BMW's 335i engine) and Audi's persistent nose heaviness.
One thing I'd like to better understand before I make a final decision is how BMW's xDrive technology compares to Audi's two different Quattro technologies.

I was explained to me that XDrive attempts to maintain a more rear bias
I don't know much else. I was pretty set on a 335xi coming from a heavily modified B5 S4. It seemed like a logical move. After test driving it I tried to convince myself I liked it but I just didn't. It's a good car but it didn't "trip my trigger". I decided to look at the TT 3.2. I ended up getting my hands on a 2.0t loaner for a couple days while my car was in the shop. I fell in love with it. I was super excited to get behind the wheel of the 3.2. It was really nice but didn't have the fun factor of the 2.0t. The exhaust note is awesome though. I'm really surprised I'm going from a 450hp quattro car to a 200hp one with FWD. I pick the car up this week. Super pumped.
Good luck on your decision making process!
