Changing tires and TPS?

Changing tires and TPS?
Hey guys,
For anyone that has changed or upgraded thier tires from the OEM ones, is it just a matter of changing or putting in the TPM sensors onto the new tires? How easily does the onboard computer recognize you've swapped them out?
What do you guys do without a spare? I'm probably going to get a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Positions 225/50 to replace the OEM 17 inch summer tires, but am a little nervous not having a spare, would getting run flats be a better idea? Is there even enough room for a spare tire in the trunk?
Anyone not recommend the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Positions 225/50 series? I'm using them as my daily driver, alot of rain, all year and a few days of snow/ice.

Re: Changing tires and TPS?
Changing is just as easy as putting on the new wheels and resetting the sensors as per the manual. Worked like a charm for me.
My summers are the pirelli pzero nero runflats and so had no spare and no flat kit. I put on blizzak LM-22's as my winters (not runflat) I couldn't justify the price delta for the runflats in winter. So bought a slime flat kit from the local auto store - my thinking being if worse comes to worse I ask my wife to drive me one of my summers if I get a flat that cannot be fixed with the kit. I don't do a lot of out of town driving so this logic worked for me.
No comment on the potenza's.
good luck!

Re: Changing tires and TPS?
I swap my wheels and tires out once a month or so for track use. I have stock 18" runflats and am using 17" Kuhmo Ecsta (non-run flat) which made a HUGE difference in my traction. I bought an extra set of TPMS for the race wheels and have had no issues with the system as long as I remember to reset it using the dash button.
