Default IMO-Yes
I live in Colorado so I have the opportunity to drive lots of winding roads that also have lots of deer and elk crossing them. The adaptives turn with the steering wheel and give you a significant advance look "around the corner" compared to standard headlights.

If most of your driving is in the city you can probably live without them.
