Default Has Audi designed new seats to prevent sagging?

At least that's what I think this looks like. These are pictures of the interior of the new A5 Cabriolet. They appear to have an extra seam that could prevent sagging.

A5 Cabriolet (s-line):

Seats in the mk2 TT:

Default I think the extra seam is there because of the shape and design of those seats...

the Mk2 seat has different shape hence the placing of seams?

Default No, that won't help anything... the seats in the S5 are a little bigger... it's the C-shape design..

that is causing the problem... the leather has too many ways to stretch out around it... that seems to be what's happening. That extra seam on the S5 you see isn't going to help with the leather 6" in front of that...

Default Similar shapes, different seats . . .

The A5 seat, at least in the S line, has an adjustable thigh support (front segment can be extended), which would probably necessitate a different inner construction. As far as I know, manufacturers freeze the design of many elements long before a car is introduced, so I doubt that Audi could be reacting so quickly to any issues with the TT seat.

Default The "U" shaped section is reversed on the A5 ..

I'll bet that's why Audi did it, but they'll never admit it.

Default omg..you're RIGHT.. I never noticed that, but if you think about how the seats have stretched....

there would be no seam on the A5/S5 in the spot where you'd put the most force... I bet that was on purpose...

Default Exactly!! I bet that's why they did it that way.

No real change to the style of the seat, but stretch forces are in an area that shouldn't stretch. Smart. I'll bet upcoming TTs will have the same pattern.

Default By time they started production on the A5/S5... the MkII seat issue was known in Europe...

The thing is, the TTS never changed anything....if the TT-RS is shown with a different pattern, then I'll know...
