If, like me, you're nonplussed with the fake air intakes on our cars, you can do what I did...

and it's totally reversible!

First, pop out the intake grilles, being careful not to break them. Then, notice that this piece is snapped onto the back of them.

Carefully unsnap this piece & replace the grilles. The thin parts at the top and bottom will require a little TLC to get snapped back into place so they don't sag, but once it's all back together it'll look like this:

If you don't mind seeing all that stuff (like I don't) you'll now have more airflow into the engine bay. Now, someone needs to develop some IC's to fit in there.

I may try epoxying some fine mesh in there, to keep out the road debris, but for now I like it MUCH better than the faux intakes.

Default I agree looks better, but wouldn't Audi leave it open....

instead of adding a "useless" piece of plastic behind the grill. I mean they test these cars in wind tunnels and probably know a bit more about the pressure created inside the engine bay. Not trying to to knock your mod, but maybe there is a function to the closed side grills?

Default That didn't take long to start moddin' the car! I'm thinking of going the TT route in the future so,

I'll be lurkin' here more and more. Have a cuouple questions about the Solar Orange; is it a flat color or is there any flake to it? Also, do you think it's a color you'll enjoy as much in a year or might it be hard to live with?

agree, you've probably created more uplift on the front end at speed

Default It's not flat, but neither is it metallic nor pearl. It's a solid finish paint, just like BB, BR,

Ibis White & Imola Yellow. I personally love it. I've a real lust for an orange Gallardo, and while I can't (and probably never will) afford that car, I can still get myself a sweet little orange coupe that's fun in the twisty stuff. So, that's what I did. I doubt I'll ever grow tired of it, but it's a lease, so if I do it's no big deal.

Default Better. That's what I was wondering about. Now all you need is a Splitter underneath

the front lip and the front end's done and it should look fantastic! At least that was my plan.

uplift maybe, but i can say that the pocket has plenty of escape vents, plus this area will be under pressure at highway speeds which is the ram effect that everyone is after.as well as giving you more fresh cold air at all times, which is very important for turbo charged motors.

Not to walk on anyone here, but i figured this out the day i brought my car home 8 months ago, and all i can say is that its a fore thought, meaning you can buy the grill form audi without the cover on it,the only diff is theres a chrome bezzle around the fog light hole. in my opinion it was designed so that it can be removed for racing to allow more air or add true cold air induction. If it was to be permanent, it would have been molded as a 1 piece grill not a 2 piece.
