I'm tempted to go with the 2009 3.2L Q manual coupe over the 2.0L Q DSG....

It seems like the better deal. If I drop the $1,000 enhanced interior package from the 3.2Q MT then the price is just `~$1,300 more than the 2.0Q DSG. I think this car would be more fun. I'm still worried about switching to an "automatic" and the 3.2L feels faster and sounds better. I also like the dual tail pipes. The gas mileage will be a minor bummer but then this will be my fun car. How do manual owners like the gearbox?

The sound of the 3.2 is definitely addictive =). I constantly find myself randomly stepping on the throttle for the sound.
However, you could always chip the 2.0 and get a milltek if you want the dual outlet.
I also have a manual, but this is my first manual car. I'm assuming you would like comments from more seasoned veterans. But if you want, I'll let ya know. I was wondering what your thoughts on the gearbox were?
Oh, and I had to take my car into the dealership at around 2-3 thousand miles due to a grinding noise coming from the transmission. Apparently something was wrong with the throwout bearing. I know a couple other people on this forum have had issues with their manual transmissions. Just food for thought I guess.
Good luck with the decision. Either way, you're getting an amazing car =).

I have the 3.2 S-line 6 Spd. The S-line gets you the Short Throw Shifter and it shifts like a dream. Plus you get a better looking Front and Rear end, 19" wheels, all leather S-line interior, and more for 3K. Do the math, more then worth it. 3.2 is a great sounding engine and fast out of the box, Also there are mods for the 3.2. REVO remapping and EVOMS V-Flow Intake can be done cheaply and there are others that are more $$$$.
08 TT Ibis White, 3.2 6spd Quattro, S-line, Nav, iPod, Sirus, Bose, Park, Bluetooth, V710 phone cradle, Xenon

and its faster than 3.2, has a good sound with dual or quad tips and does way better on MPG. I do 0 60 in 5.6 with a good start and have a ggod sound thanks to the TBE and can get 33 MPG on the highway, 27 in the city with normal driving. Overall im getting 25.5 MPG with a very heavy foot.

Agreed that you'll enjoy either. Personally, I went 2.0T as I felt the 3.2 lacked torque and, having lived with several turbo'd cars, really enjoy that type of power delivery. This engine chipped would appear to best the 3.2. Given the recent news of 5 cyl and 3.6 replacement engines, I think the 3.2's days are numbered. Doesn't mean it isn't a good engine or that you wouldn't enjoy it. But there appears to be better.
I will say that the 3.2 soundtrack is outstanding, the 2.0 is definitely no match there. With that, given the lack of torque and poor mpg, you REALLY have to like the soundtrack to make it work out.
I'd say your biggest hurdle is the MT. I haven't driven an MT car in nearly 20 years so, I really couldn't car less. But, after reading this board and the Vortex, I see that some folks on here would rather staple their sac to their thigh then drive DSG. Whatever, it's great technology. In 20 years, there will be a "but DSG is SO much more involving for the driver then ______ trans" crowd. Times change.
Again, either way, you're in an Audi TT. Enjoy.

John
