Default MotorWeek is on and testing the TT 3.2 6spd.

0-60 6.3 @ 14.7

That's pathetic.

If I remember right, the S-tronic 3.2 does 0 -60 in 5.5 secs. That S-tronic really makes a diff.

You wouldnt think so but thats what they claim. Now they claim the 2.0T to do about 6.2 with 200 hp. But I think the 2.0T is more like 210hp but I have read several articles that say the same times so I would think the 3.2 S-tronic should do about 5.5 or so.

I've driven both extensively, and while the S-tronic is faster, it isn't THAT much faster.

Default I don't know about 1 second exctly, but it is much faster.

You have to account for the power loss in a manual between each gear shift as well as the actual shift time being slower. The S-Tronic is not losing power or slowing down during the shifts, whereas the manual will.

Default I'm not an idiot, I know how it works and why it's faster.

But, you guys must not have a clue how to drive a manual if you are losing nearly a full second to an S-Tronic model.

Look at the GTI. VW claims only a .3 second difference between DSG and Manual. Yeah, thats faster but that doesn't exactly qualify as "much faster".

Oh, and I just looked up the official numbers on the TT. 5.5 0-60 on the 6-spd, 5.3 on the S-Tronic. HUGE difference I tell you...HUGE! MUCH faster!

Default In a 1/4 mile, It's good for over 1/2 sec against a professional driver...

That said, your normal every-day guy is going to be much, much, slower.

So to 60MPH, I'm not sure that DSG is a full second quicker, but with the addition of launch-control, I bet it could be, again, against the average joe.

DSG vs 6MT

Default Either MotorWeek sucks at driving or they have a slow example. No way it should

be that much slower than Audi's historically conservative published numbers. That test is obviously outside of the normal spectrum - just as the 5.1sec test from a recent magazine. Goes both ways...

Default Why don't we use Audi's official numbers and at least have some consistancy?

S-Tronic: 5.3
6-Speed: 5.5

Now, I'm not very good at math, but that doesn't look like a half second to me...

By the way, internet bench racing is about as idiotic as it gets.
