Default The problem with that front design is...

... the seam between the front quarter panel and bumper goes down very low before angling back. This low horizontal seam was a design choice for the vanilla TT to give continuity the to the 'Tornado' line that runs across the entire length of the car. But what it does is limit how wide alternate front air intakes can get.

It still looks great, but as you can see below the intakes look too narrow.

Now below you can see a more successful application of this exact same design on the RS5 whose quartpanel seam doesn't drop as far, therefore allowing a wider intake.
