Default Passenger Door Lock Acting Flaky

3 times in the past week, the passenger door lock will not unlock when commanded to do so from the driver side door button or keyfob (2nd press). I had to manually unlock it by reaching over to the passenger side handle.

Does this mean the door lock actuator or switch is likely on its way out? Is this a common problem with Mk2 TT's?

Is there a simple adjustment or squirt of graphite/lube that might do the trick before I resort to taking it to the dealer?

It sounds like it could be an actuator. Might want to pull the door card off and take a look. Could even be that the cable pull has broken or come off.

Thanks for the suggestion, I may be able to take a look after the holiday weekend.

Just in case this wasn't clear, this is an intermittent problem. I can unlock the passenger side door normally from the driver side door or keyfob 90% of the time still.

Might be in the switch then. Check the connection at the back of the main switch on the drivers side.

Can you unlock it with the switch on the passenger side door?

Nope, the passenger door switch doesn't work either, I have to manually pull the interior door handle because neither the switches nor the exterior handle work. It happened again this morning, but worked fine in the afternoon.

Subscribing. I am having a similar problem with out new-to-us '06 A6…passenger door not unlocking via remote or with Advanced Key…or with switch on driver door. Is an intermittent problem, but as the car is new to us, can't say how intermittent just yet. When it happens, pulling up on the outside door handle results in the right side turn signals flashing.

Thoughts?

Dealer fixed the issue by replacing a door lock module (not sure if related to switch or actuator).
