Did a couple of tests against a 3.2 S-Tronic last night...and the results are:
- Launched both cars with launch control on. The 3.2 stomped the 2.0T every single time off the line due to wheel spin most of 1st gear and some of second. 2.0T would start to gain a little ground once it got traction but never enough to make a difference. The 3.2 was usually 2-3 car lengths out by this time. Never sensed any torque steer despite the massive wheel spin.
- 30 to 80mph runs... as expected, the 3.2 was marginally faster, but really not as much as I expected. 2.0T is very very impressive from a roll, though I think the faster the cars run the more advantage the 3.2 has simply because it breathes better up high.
That said, I'm EXTREMELY impressed by the 2.0T and can't fault any of you for buying it (except the lack of any real exhaust noise). This is the engine to have, and would be the engine I would have bought had they offered quattro and a six-speed.

We started off with him in the 2.0T and me in my 3.2...then we switched off. It was a clear, cool, dry night in the low 50's (good boost weather) and both cars had Max Summer Tires.
Several Launch control runs all produced the same result...out of the hole, it wasnt even close. The 3.2 had 2- 2.5 Car lenghts after about 1/8th of a mile. After the 2.oT gained some traction it seemed to not loose any more ground...however, we both suspected if we would have contined on over 80+ MPH the 3.2 would start to creep ahead due to a upper end that can just breathe better then the 2.oT
On the 30-80 and 40 to 80 and 50 to 80 tests the 3.2 had the 2.0T by about half a car or so that was growing at the end and verified what we saw in the launch testing. Again, toward the upper end of 80...the diffrence that was almost non existant started to show as the 3.2 started to creep ahead.
I as well was impressed with the 2.0T especially the lack of Tq Steer. There is a ton of wheel spin as Zerin mentioned, but it seemed to keep the car in a straight line very well...and did not want to pull to one side of the other.
The 2.oT along with the additonal weight reduction is very nice set up in the TT and I would say the 2.oT with 300+ lbs shaved off, vs a heavier 250 HP V6 nearly offsets that HP diffrence, with the exception of grip out of the hole and exiting a slow, 1st gear corner.
If I had to buy a TT a year from now...I would with out a doubt get the 2.oT, only becuase I can get Quattro also. I will say that going from the 3.2 to the 2.0T, the exhaust sound is something you really miss, the 2.oT is just numb in this reguard.
Over the next week Zerin and I will do some more testing, be it braking, cornering etc to get a more well rounded idea....
Zerin and I will have more in the New Year on this....
Till then...enjoy your TT's guys, both are great cars!

The MK1 won "gay car of the year"...not the MK2....=)
But at least you have a coupe....right?<ul><li><a href="http://www.editorial.discountnewcars.com.au/mellor/mellor.nsf/story2/9BA9CAF902C192F1CA256F010010C2C6">For everyone that ever wondered where the TT-Gay comments originated.</a></li></ul>

I'm happy with my 2.0T FWD for the time being. I'm getting great fuel economy, LOVE the way the car looks, it's very rare in this area, interior and amenities are top notch... really the only thing that is lacking is grip and proper sports car handling. I wish Audi used RWD on the TT as I think the 2.0T would be one fun drive coupled with Mag ride and ASF. This car will do just fine until next August.
