Default Removing Dome Light

Hi,
There's been a lot of chat about installing a radar detector by wiring it to the fuse box. I come from a Subaru where we always wired the power to the dome light by removing it and tucking the components up into the headliner. Has anyone done it this way?? I'm actually having trouble popping out my dome light to get the wiring in. I can get the back popped out, but not the front. Is there a trick to it?

Why not just run it to the fuse box? Its cleaner and easier.

I guess we could debate that. First, I don't like the idea of running a long cord across the window and down the pillar when I could simply have the cord sneak into the headliner. Also, I personally think it's easier to tap into a power wire in the dome light than to fiddle with fuse box.

the fuse box is the easiest. If you have a valentine one its just a phone cord so its easy to hide...The easiest thing to do for the fuse box is clip the corner of a fuse and sodder your power wire to it. I tried one of the copper looking things that goes around the fuse with a male end on it to hook your power wire to, but the fuse would go back in it was to snug...if you want i can upload a pic of what it looks like sodered to the fuse

Great thanks! That explains it. I was starting on the side away from the windshield. Anyway, thanks for the pic. I just don't see why you all consider it easier to soder things and run line than to just use the remote mount kit from V-1. Am I missing something?
