Looks good. However I've got a 17' 2" kayak to contend with. With a long boat like that, you've got to have a rack that allows you to strap it down out near the bulkheads. The Thule 887xt allows for that whereas most any other rack will have the straps positioned where the cross bars are. And that's too close at 22 inches. That's a point where the physics start getting dicey.

I checked on the insurance hit for a beater and it's chump change.

And deep down inside I hear a small voice asking if I really want to haul my boat around on the TTS. Sometimes I have to drive down some "challenging" back roads to get to launch sites. I ain't takin' this moose dodging TTS down no stinkin' loggin' trails
