Default TT iPod connection Not charging.

I have the IPod connector in my glovebox. I have used it a few times but have noticed that it is not charging my iPod. Does anyone else have this issue?

Default Is it a brand new ipod? or an older model?

I just returned a brand new nano because it wasn't compatible with my Dice link ipod hook up. I later found out the newest generation of ipods no longer have a 12 volts to 5 volt converter built in to the ipod.

I'm guessing you have the Audi factory ipod hook up? You could have a similar problem?

The press release in the link explains the changes to the ipod. I ended up returning my new nano and buying a older refurbed model, works fine now.

http://www.diceelectronics.com/press.htm</a

Yes it is a brand new iPod. The 16GB Nano. I have the glove box adapter, it is not a wire, it is a socket you plug it in to.

Default that is the same one I bought, you'll have to check to see if the audi dock supports

the new ipods, I'd be very surprised if they were one step ahead of apple. IF you have an older ipod see if that one will charge on the dock in your car.

Default Confirmed from Apple support

I called Apple support this evening and they did change the way the iPods charge. The tech told me I needed to get a refurb one (older) if I want it to charge. She was helpful, it is not her fault Apple is screwing things up.

Default make sure they don't f*ck you on the open box return

I ended up getting a full refund after explaining the problem to the apple store employee and then the store manager approved the full refund.

I'm guessing Apple removed the 12-->5 volt converter from the ipods in an attempt to save some money and sell a lot of adapters for all the products that use the old style connector.

Planned obsolescence.
