Re: Yup I had the carbonio on my B6 S4, and sounded good, but I put my stock back on
I went from the Carbonio, to the the AEM on my A3 and it was a notable difference in power and TQ. No doubt at all in my mind. Granted I only *** dyno'd it, but I would never do anything to the engine of my car that didn't increase it's numbers. So in that sense, I am with you guys. I will probably end up dynoing this thing with stock and with this solution, and see what the hard numbers show. If it doesn't show a gain all the way across, it goes back to stock. Sound and looks are great, but I for one will not compromise performance to gain those two features.
I am really in an experimental mode with this project at this stage, I'll let you guys know more about it once I have more road time, and dyno results.
BTW, good or bad I appreciate the input. As long as it's constructive thoughts/criticism, I say keep it coming...

I like it! Good job. Though I took a more OEM approach on my project. I used a high temp teflon coated 3" tube that does not conduct heat. and a flex hose that was from my honda element project. Then ran it all the way down through the fog light pocket to acheive true Cold Air Induction. Total price out of pocket..$50 for ITG race filter at the end if the tube. Thus keeping a OEM appearance when you open the hood. But your project is very clean and adds to the spirit of your car.

Thanks man, but how did you snorkel it down to behind the air dam?
It's a very tight fit, but my old A3 piece did make it down to that area which will provide the coldest air for sure. You put together a clean solution. Hats off.

I took the fog lamp out, ran the hose down, put the filter on then put the fog lamp back. and no problems with water issues, and the air dam pocket holds the air so it stays charged full of fresh air. And thank you for your warm reply.

It also replaces the stock airbox with it's restrictions with smooth 3" tubing tapering to 2.75" like stock at the MAF.

..not to jack the thread, but looking at your pics..may I ask what you did with your rear spoiler??
..It looks interesting, but curious why and where you had those exentions made.. I like the idea behind it, but only if say it was part of a two-stage electro-mechanical system... to be shoved out there all the time creates a couple issues..
1. I'd be worried someone would break it off (more so then when the normal setup is up)
2. with it out there like that you're exposing a spot that isn't meant to be exposed..visually... Now, if you physically made the OEM spoiler wider.. then it might be pretty neat.
..interesting work though..

...somebody show me an intake that will truly work and show GAINS on the 3.2 and I'll install one...
again, it goes back to the hyperflow on my S4... the sound alone is worth a few hundred...the feel I "thought" I felt.. was nice... but to go through the hassle of taking out that filter and cleaning, letting it dry and oiling it ever 5k miles... damn well better prove some real world gains AND look trick under the hood to boot... for all that, I would drop $500 if the setup was more than nice look tubing..
