SLK: sport light kompressor
CLK: coupe light kompressor
A3: ?? nothing, althought the implication is smallest letter paired with smallest number = the bottom the line Audi (unless you live in a market with the A2)
RS4: ?? Race Sport A4???
X5: 5 series SUV with xDrive
IS: I=lowest letter/car on the Lexus totem pole, S=Sedan, thus IS=smallest Lexus sedan
CLK: coupe light kompressor

I never really thought about it. Perhaps it was the initials for a Striper in a club the designers of the TT hung out at ?
How's that for a story?

I didn't remember the original german origins offhand, and figured the english translations would suffice. I didn't know k actually stood for kurz, I always just figured the k cars had kompressor engines, although now that you mention it... Everything makes more sense with kurz, ie GLK or CLK.
And your LMs are quite nice too.
