MK3 TTRS door handle and door mirror removal
#2
the side mirror has to be pulled out, someone just used his fingers, but I think it's better to use a sunction cup placed at its centre, they are quite fragile and very expensive especially if it's the dimmer/heated type

I broke one removing it to install my carbon mirror covers, I went to the dealership and I had complete sticker shock. I was thinking maybe $4-500CAD but I certainly didn’t expect $1200CAD. I’ve been a good customer and they spared me and gave them to me for cost plus 10% which was still over $900CAD but their were none in Canada. When it arrived they asked me if I wanted them to install the mirror and I let them. They installed the new one plus installed the other mirror cover for me for at 0.5hr shop rate. I was talking to the parts guy and he told me they install the OEM carbon covers for 1.5hrs. In hindsight I wish I brought it to them for the install and save myself a lot of money.
On the cheap side, they also carried the base TT mirrors for $400CAD but they told me they would likely throw a code, not that I would have gone that route anyway.

I broke driver's side me too when installing mirror sweeping indicators…. after the passenger's one went off easily and smoothly….
Audi asked me a crazy 400$, luckily I found a used one in mint condition from Germany at 100$...
for my curiosity, the dimmer and heated mirrors are not made in Germany and neither in Hungary (where all TT's are crafted) , they are made in USA…
