Default Opinion on the various Cold Air Intake mods

My 2017 mkIII TT is ready for a 'Cold Air Intake' mod.

I am looking for one that is shielded, so that it minimizes the heat sucked in from the engine compartment.

There are so many different brands.
034 Motorsports, Integrated Engineering, Burger Motorports, BMP Tuning

Any opinions / likes / dislikes?

Most, if not all, Audis are fitted with cold air intake. The aftermarket setups I see appear to be hot air intakes.

This speaks to intakes in general and might be helpful in your decision making

+1. I believe ours already pulls from inside the bumper cover. Doesn't get much colder than that. If you shorten the path, then you must pull from inside engine compartment which would be colder.

Not sure how much of a performance boost a high-flow air filter is going to provide for a turbocharged car either...

above video does great job of explaining just that ...

it’s very beneficial ..turbo chargers a very sensitive to pressure differences ie pressure ratios inlet to exhaust

Just don't skip over the part where he says the stock air intake is good for the stock power of the engine. Improving your airflow will only help you in conjunction with other changes.

Indeed. And that is why the 034 Motorsport intake (which I have and like) re-utilizes the OEM lower intake box section that pulls in colder air. The 034 rather replaces the upper section of the plenum and intake tube and utilizes a higher flow rate conical filter.

Most OEM engines are air starved to help meet emissions requirements. Better breathing is always beneficial.
