Relative Fuel Economy - Golf R, S3 & TTS
I was looking at the fuel economy specs for the Golf R, S3 and TTS, and I was surprised to find that the Golf R and S3 are rated higher that the TTS even though the former 2 cars weigh more and have higher drag:
Golf R -- 23 city, 30 highway, 26 combined / Drag Coefficient = 0.32 / Curb Weight = 3,340
S3 = 23 city, 31 highway, 26 combined / Drag Coefficient = 0.33 / Curb Weight = 3,462
TTS = 23 city, 27 highway, 25 combined / Drag Coefficient = 0.30 / Curb Weight = 3,230
Is the difference likely due to gearing? Testing procedures?
FWIW, I'm approaching 2,000 miles and I'm averaging just a tick over 22 MPG with...ahem..."mixed" driving.

I've been averaging 26 mpg with a little over 1,000 miles now (I track every fill up on an App). Mixed driving myself but non-commuting which likely has helped.
It's been remarkably consistent. The first tank was 25 mpg, and then high 26/low 27 ever since. I do often cycle through the various performance modes, but with no thoughts to fuel efficiency, so quite unexpected.
