Default tt 2.0 2017

am looking to purchase 2017 from Boise Audi. both front seats have separation defect. dealer say new chair backs are ordered. I am long time tt driver [12yrs]and am reluctant to purchase on these terms.
tt looks great otherwise. are the audi repair backs really lagit? why would they not replace the seat completely, the car is still warranted.

The repair is legit but there have been a few re-dos. Seeing the problem in a 2017 is pretty rare. Replacing seats is $thousands and would not likely match the rear seats in a coupe due to fading.

It's not the backs that get replaced but rather the side trim. The airbags also get replaced as part of the service bulletin. No need to replace entire seats.

The basic issue is that the trim tabs were designed to let go easily with side curtain airbag deployment. However they have let go and separated for many MY2016 (and apparently a few 2017) in normal seat use. The replacement trim has a more robust attachment structure and again a different airbag.

Both of my seats have been fine since repair/replacement. But alas the tech was care-less when removing my passenger seat and did some scuff/scratch damage to my side sill. He likely tried to remove the seat by himself.

We had a 17 with the same issue. Strangely it occurred first on the pax seat at around 5k miles and no one ever even sits in that seat.

2 TSBs were released, and I went in for the revised and latest. All was well for a bit, but one clip must have broken during the install and was evident a few weeks later when a small gap formed. Took it back in and all was well.

Its not a complicated procedure, but as a few have said they need to take care when removing the seat, just take care to note the condition of the door sill before and after.

Same here, the passenger seat went before the driver and rarely anyone in it.
