704.1 hangs on XP, works fine on Vista..Need help.
..pulling my hair out. I've uninstalled/reinstalled several times. I successfully connected after: uninstall, reboot, install. If I then reboot after that - it hangs if I try to test the connection or go into a module (FYI - hangs hard..can't kill the process at all). Currently - can't get it to connect at all anymore.
At that same time, I can disconnect the Ross Tech cable from the XP PC, plug it into the Vista one, fire up Vag-com, and go into the engine module (or others) without issue (without turning ignition off/on).
Any ideas?

specs inside
PC that works =
toshiba M5 laptop, duo core, 2GB RAM, running Vista Enterprise
PC that doesn't work =
Aopen mini-ITX core 2 duo, 1GB RAM, running Win XP SP2.
Thing is: it used to work fine, and the only thing I can attribute it to is the update in vag-com / usb drivers. That said, having a hard time even reversing back to vag-com v6xx and the prior driver.

FYI - Andy, my other issue i called about - i unplugged TCU and plugged it back in...worked fine, now intermittent..transmission going in and out of limp mode. I'll send auto scan log soon.

Problem Solved...
After I disabled the on-board serial ports in the BIOS (again), it works again. No idea how it got re-enabled, perhaps CMOS battery is on its way out and reset all settings. In any case, problem solved.
