Hi everyone.
The battery on my Audi A5 coupe 3.0TDI 2009 was pretty much on its way out so I purchased a replacement battery for it as suggested by a local parts shop. Now little did I know at the time that there is recoding etc involved and sadly I did not even take a look to see what battery was already i the car. I assumed the parts dealer would know what battery should be inside my vehicle. Anyhow, now this is the situation:
However after doing that I was hoping that it will reset all the values but the car is still complaining about low battery voltage when I first try and start up the car. Looking at blocks 018,019,020, they show a bad battery. ie all the old values from my previous battery. I was hoping these would default when I changed to a new BEM code but they have not.
Can anyone help me out please. Thank you in advance.

I assumed the parts dealer would know what battery should be inside my vehicle. Anyhow, now this is the situation:
- Old battery is a 110Ah Varta battery which according to vagcom is correctly coded in the computer as I can see matching BEM codes.
- New battery is a 90AH Supercharge battery MF88 which according to their website does fit this car. Now I would have preferred a 110Ah battery but its been a while since I purchased to battery so I can no longer swap it out. Physically it fits in fine and that's all good. There is no BEM code

I’m dealing with a similar issue. I replaced my battery with a dealer varta battery that even had a BEM code. After recoding, blocks 18,19,20 still seem like they are values related to the old battery.
Did you ever find out what caused this?

Watch the excellent Ross Tech video to recode when replacing battery.
BEM battery is recommended for maximum life and minimum grief.
For a non-BEM battery, change the existing battery serial number by 1 digit and the intelligent charging system will start charging as a new battery.

You mean if the vendor code is CCL? You can try and put CCL in as the vendor code, but if the J533 lookup table doesn't have a record for that, it won't accept it. In any regard, the vendor code and the serial number are recorded for warranty claim purposes, not for operational decisions. So it really doesn't matter. JCB will always work.
