Default Brake Switch Electrical Malfunction P0703

I've been getting this code for awhile now:

Address 02: Auto Trans Labels: 01L-927-156.lbl
Control Module Part Number: 4D0 927 156 AN
Component and/or Version: AG5 01L 4.2l4V RdW D06
Software Coding: 00001
Work Shop Code: WSC 00000
VCID: 75EF34FB65A9
1 Fault Found:

17087 - Brake Switch (F): Electrical Malfunction
P0703 - 35-00 - -

My brakes have a lot of pedal travel and little power assist since getting this code. Repeated bleedings have not helped.
My question is does this code refer to the brake pedal switch? I know of no other "Brake Switch" on the car.

Please take a look at the special notes in our WIKI on this code.

You said you bleeded the brakes, but have you also replaced the fluid and checked the brake lines?

Thanks for the info. The fluid was replaced and the brake lines checked.
Would the code refer to the brake pedal switch or the brake light switch? The Bentley manual refers to (2) switches in the wiring behind the drivers side floor mat. I suppose I'll just replace them both.

Read what it says under "Special Notes". If you press the brake pedal before checking for codes, is the code still there? Doubt it.

Wow, you're good! I hit the brakes before I plugged the vag in and the code did not come up. I'm still stumped with this issue. When I hit and release the brakes in park I hear a distinct clicking sound underneath the shifter console. What is under there that involves the braking system?
Thanks,Chris

The Shifter Interlock Solenoid lives in there. That's the guy that blocks the shifter form coming out of Park when your foot is not on the brake.
