Can I get my ISO-COM to work with a USB adapter?
I know that Ross-Tech does not officially support USB adapters, so I am posting this here in the hopes that another user might be able to help me.
I have had my ISO-COM and VAG-COM software for 7 years. (I have upgraded the software a few times.)
I always used my old Dell laptop and it worked fine. Two years ago I bought an HP/Compaq laptop and found that it the serial port does not work with the ISO-COM. I thought about upgrading to a newer interface back then, but I kept the old computer just for VAG-COM. However I recently gave the computer to my sister. Now I need to clear the airbag light on my car. Somebody on AW told me a while back that they got it to work with a USB adapter. So I bought the Belkin interface and tried it. I configured the interface to work as COM2, also configured VAG-COM to use COM2 and the test reported back "Interface: 0 -Ready"
And when I tried to read the controller, I got "Interface not found."
Do I need to finally break down and buy a newer interface? Or can I get this to work, even if just to clear an error code?
Thanks!

Never tried a USB adapter, but you could always try a PCMCIA card with a serial adapter.

Why can't you get it to work with your existing serial port?
