Default DIS not working correctly after re-installing radio

I have a 2003 RS6 that I am getting ready to sell. Several years ago I replaced the symphony II radio with the RNS-E Navigation unit, replaced the Onstar unit with a BlueTooth module that worked with the navigation. During this install I had to change the coding of the DIS to display both the navigation info as well as the BlueTooth info. Everything worked great. Since the car is going away, I restored the car back to stock by re-installing the Symphony II radio. I cant remember what the original coding was for the DIS. Now the DIS displays Low Washer Fluid, Brake Light Out, and other Lamp Out. It is also stuck on miles left to empty and the right control stalk buttons for the DIS don't function. I looked back at the install instructions for the RNS-E and it says to change the adaptation channel number 62 to 7 for the DIS to talk with RNS-E and the BT or channel 62 to 5 for just the Navigation. Does anyone know what Channel 62 should be coded to with the Symphony II radio? I've tried all single digit's from 1 through 9 and I cant get the DIS working properly. Please help...

Thanks

I believe Channel 62 should be set at 1 for radio only.
Did you also recode the Instrument cluster when the swap was done?

Thanks Dana... I have the Instruments channel 62 set to 1 now, still does not work. What do you mean "recode the instruments" is there something else I need to do besides changing channel 62? When I installed the RNS-E I dont remember re-coding anything other than channel 62 to 7 to make it work with the navigation and the telephone. I agreen putting it back to 1 'radio only' should work but it doesnt. The other symptom I noticed is that the symphony II's backlit buttons dont work whith the headlights. And in order to get the diagnostic info from the radio I must turn on the radio. If I don't turn on the radio first the VAG tool says that it can not communicate with the controller.

Thanks again for your help.

I don't know about your retrofit from any personal experience. But..I was doing some general searches and found some instructions with photos here:
http://audi.ogdenlabs.com/

I downloaded and viewed both rnse_install & rnse_vag_mods pdfs

I don't know if your retrofit was anywhere near that procedure, but it seems to me that the coding was done after the physical modifications.

As far as the radio behavior, some of the earlier VW models did that. Not communicate until the power was on, maybe someone more experienced can comment on that one.

The illumination, antenna and (Databus) Communication problems may all be related to the modifications that were done during the install. You may be able to get this sorted with some wiring diagrams. Check the Can Bus wiring to the radio. You could also see if the Instrument cluster acts properly without a radio at all.
