Fault code 16804, help.

Default Fault code 16804, help.

The engine electronics fault light started to glow, and i got my car scanned. Found this fault code :

If the exhaust system is sealed (no leaks) and the O2sensors are working properly, the Catalyst may be faulty.

The US 1.8T engines have flash updates for this fault so it wouldn't hurt to check with your local dealer or in your repair manual for any applicable TSB's.

Can i harm the engine by driving with this fault?

No, you shouldn't damage anything proving the Catalyst is not restricted.

If it was restricted this would result in poor engine performance and excessive exhaust temperatures. Excessive temperature could cause premature turbo charger failure, but a plugged converter(s) on gasoline engines is pretty rare.
