Default Fault Codes - B6 3.0 Misfires

This has been beaten to death, but I would like one expert to confirm before I place an order for 6 ignition coils. Car essentially not running (made it to the garage, though!).

Codes pulled:

Address 01: Engine Labels: None
Part No SW: 8E0 909 559 L HW: 8E0 909 059
Component: 3.0L V6/5V G 0020
Coding: 0016711
Shop #: WSC 63251
6 Faults Found:
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - MIL ON
16686 - Cylinder 2: Misfire Detected
P0302 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
16688 - Cylinder 4: Misfire Detected
P0304 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - MIL ON
16687 - Cylinder 3: Misfire Detected
P0303 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - MIL ON
16685 - Cylinder 1: Misfire Detected
P0301 - 008 - Implausible Signal
16689 - Cylinder 5: Misfire Detected
P0305 - 008 - Implausible Signal

All coilpacks are bad (1-5) or could 1 be bad and causing the rest to throw a DTC? Anyway to know for sure?

Wisdom would say to order all of them, anyways, but confirmation from the group will help me sleep. Thanks!

Default Was there a service campaign for your car? Check with your dealer by VIN.

You may get some free coilpacks out of it,

Default I wish!

Not for an '04 3.0. Unless something has been rolled out recently. I'll check. Thanks for getting me the Vag Com quickly - I've been putting it off for a long time.

Default Plugs good?

Plugs are a lot cheaper than coil packs.

Default They look fine, and were done about 20,000mi ago.

OE plugs, replaced at Audi dealer since still under warranty. I've got a set ordered, though.

Default Codes Resolved

Replaced 6 coil packs and 6 spark plugs with OE. Cleared codes with the VAG-COM and it's running fine again. Vehicle is a 2004 3.0 6MT with ~65,000 miles.

Default Make sure the ground cable terminals connecting the engine block to the chassis/batt neg terminal...

are clean and tight. If the roads are salted (common salt or magnesium chloride,) in your region, disassembling and cleaning the terminal connections, even if they look OK at first, is worthwhile. Apply a thin film of Vaseline on the terminals and bolts before re assembling.

Default It's the main battery negative cable connections to the engine block and the chassis.

comprising the negative battery post cable clamp, the cable ring eye terminal/bolt to block connection and the ring eye cable terminal at the chassis connection. The batt to block is one cable. the Batt to chassis may be a seperate cable or an extension of the batt to block cable. There is often auxiliary grounds between the engine and the chassis also. Look for braided, uninsulated flat copper cables, that are smaller than the main negative battery cable.
In general, when obscure electrical symptoms occur, it's because of bad grounds more often than not.
