Default I've also come across this issue on an '00 A6 2.7t

however, my customer was not willing to pay for the diagnostics to root out the problem. I can clear the codes, and sometimes they come back immediately, while other times they'll take a week. Both codes come up as intermittent.

Default Answer.....

digging up this thread to solve my own question and hopefully help anyone else who might run into this.

after getting ready for a bosch to hitachi maf conversion i came across some info on cluster recoding and noticed that audi s4's from 2000 to 2001 and cars from 2001.5 to 2000 use different maf sensors each with its own softcode for the cluster, the code for 2000 to 2001 was 0 and 2001.5 to 2002 was 1025. bosch maf=0 hitachi=1025, anyways my car being a 2000 the soft code should be 0, but after checking with my vag code showed 1025, changed code to 0 and bingo epc light goes off. I'm assuming that each maf sensor has different voltage signal wich would give a code if they were looking for the other. Well i hope this helps someone out took me two months to figure it out. lol

also the link below on how to do the procedure courtesy of s4Wiki<ul><li><a href="http://s4wiki.com/wiki/Cluster_recode">http://s4wiki.com/wiki/Cluster_recode</a</li></ul>
