Help Please . First Time. Can't connect with controller.
Got USB KKL dongle (interface) on eBay, installed driver. Vag-Com "Test" reports Port and Interface OK.
Plugged into ABD recepticle, turned on ignition, started VAG-Com V.409.1 (shareware), but can't establish "Comm Status" with controller. In "Options" tried different baud rate settings, still no go.

Nope. Controller not found.
Reinstalled driver as suggested.
Still no contact.
TEST: Comm3, port OK , Interface found.
COMM STATUS: ITE=0.
Controller not found.

Tried to contact the seller/vendor? They should know whats up...
...but usually they don't have a real clue about diagnostics...
Also you should try with 311.2 first, NOT 409.1 since 409.1 does not run with low quality 3rd party hardware, 311.2 does and since nobody knows what hardware you are running, try it that way first.

I'm a dummy. Win 2K device manager mapped The USB cabled interface (cheap immitation) as logical ComPort #4 and I was beating on #3. I was able to establish with several controllers, got excess errors attempting HVAC, but couldn't connect with most.
The reason for the CEL light is now clear. Also learned that the "Cen Lock" Sytem's Vac Pump has been very busy.
This tool is So enpowering because of the knowledge it provides.
