I currently have VWTool w/necessary hardware, i.e., laptop and cable.. If I wanted to upgrade...
to VAG-COM, all I would need to do is buy the software, correct?? And that'd be $99, yes??

Yep.
Of course, the outdated opto-isolated interfaces don't work with the latest versions of VAG-COM. But you should be fine with Release 311.2<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/download/">http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/download/</a</li></ul>
