Hi all,

On my TTC 225, since I put a black Forge DV-R, I met this problem on my VAG COM :

1 Faults Found:
17608 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249): Mechanical Malfunction
P1200 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

I've also a new noïse when I change speed manually, a kind of noïse of original failed valve. Is it normal ?

When I put the OEM one, I've no errors.

Any help please ?

Hi,
The ECU has noticed a change in manifold charge pressure verses what it was with the oem DV under the same control conditions. N249 is a solinoid valve used to actuate the DV to open and recirculate boost air independant of throttle position or manifold pressure. N249 can direct vacuum from a storage bottle to the DV, DURING throttle closure, (when manifold pressure is still positive) to minimize turbo lag and enhance throttle response. This mode is also used to increase fuel economy during cruise conditions.

My DV also started making scary noises during vacuum to boosted transitions on acceleration after my chip was installed. I have tried several different DVs, in both positions and they all make that noise to varing degrees. This occurs only in chipped mode, in stock mode the noise is gone. It may be a characteristic of the diaphram type DV. I have not tried using a piston style (like the Forge 007) DV yet. I tried sourcing the DV control line directly to the manifold, instead of through the N249 solinoid valve and the noise occured at a different point during boost rise/power level, but was still present.
