Default a little help with some symptoms and codes, pretty please.

Vehicle: 2005 allroad 4.2

Symptom: Today, Wife found that the trunk of car was not properly shut and left that way all night. She closed it and drove to work. No problems.

While driving home, about 45 minutes into commute, the battery light illuminates on dash, and windshield wipers start slowing down. She makes it home the last 3 miles with no problem after turning off wipers and radio.

I pulled codes and found these faults below. Also found these posts related to the Engine Fault I found.

Thx all.

Default UPDATE:

Just ran car for a half hour, driving around at different speeds. Volt meter on dash indicated less than 12volts. Seemed to hold steady. I stopped, ran VAG-COM, got a fault for low voltage to Suspension Leveling. I was idling length of AutoScan.

I took off driving and watched the voltage drop....quickly. Car went into limp mode, but thankfully made it into drive way.

Crap, either a really bad battery(from inside lights being on all day) or alternator.I am guessing alternator. Battery Charged up to 12.45 volts rather quickly. While on, car is showing less than 12 and dropping between battery terminals.

Accepting donations to my paypal.

Default Battery age?

Out of curiosity, how old is your battery? I found out (the expensive way) that, when a battery gets old (4-5 years), it is likely to become "worn-out", needing constant charging and therefore puts a huge strain on the alternator, causing that to fail. Solution is to change batteries sooner, before they wear out the alternator.

Default Unsure, its an 05 with 50K. Probably original. The batt. took a charge pretty well with an hour on..

the charger. I tested the voltage at 12.25 across the batt. terminals. When I started it, the battery voltage did not drop much. But then, watched the voltage go from 12v and slowly tik down. i have been told that if the alternator was working, you'd get 14.5v across the terminal.

Going to Lewis today. Should be covered under CPO.
