Default MAF low g/s - definite diagnosis? Code 00575

I have an A6 1.8T that is dead slow. 0-60 takes 22 seconds.

I have an error code 00575 Intake Manifold Pressure 11-10 Control Limit Reached. I've read the wiki for this error code but the information there is for the "Not Reached" situation.

The g/s output maxes out at around 77 g/s when it should be 120, so I suspect the MAF, but can low output be caused by anything else? When I disconnect the MAF plug the car runs no better but the g/s goes to 120, but perhaps it's meant to do that.

Should I just change the MAF or might that prove to be a waste of money?

Thank you.

Default Discovered for myself that the g/s is not a failsafe indicator of a dodgy MAF

Changed mine and still got only 80 or so g/s. I've also disconnected the N75 valve electrical connector and that has not made the performace any worse, so perhaps that is the real problem.
