I have a 2010 S4 and just purchaseed VAG-COM HEX-USB-CAN cable. I also picked up a new Acer laptop (1.6 GHz 512 KB L2 cache, 2 GB memory, 160 GB HD) running Windows 7 (much to my lament). I've tried installing VAG-VOM release 908.1 and it will not run the installer, wrong file type/format or something like that; don't recall the exact message. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or how to proceed? I'm assuming that I've got the wrong insaller, but...? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. That's the same download I'm using but I re-downloaded it anyway to be sure. The error message remains the same: "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86(32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher." I checked the laptop and it's running a 64 bit operating system. Any idea what I need to do? I was hoping to work on learning V-C this weekend. Thanks!

The "trick" was unhooking my desktop and giving the new laptop direct access to the internet and downloading it directly onto the laptop. Saving the file to my desktop, copying it to a portable hard drive, and then copying it from the hard drive to the laptop corrupted the file every time. Stupid and frustrating...but resolved.
