Default Is it normal for ABS controller to lose communication with VAG-COM during driving?

Wanted to log some things related to the "Gear Recognition Signal (Intermittent)" DTC I've had ongoing for ages in the ABS.

VAG-COM stopped logging and after hanging a bit, reported back it had lost contact with the ABS controller. I could log right back in if I wanted to.

Is it normal for the controller connection to drop (thus restoring ABS functionality)?

Yes, it is. The ABS drops the connection above a certain speed for safety reasons.
