Default P1612 ECU Incorrectly coded...How do I recode?

The ECU for my 98 A4 1.8T Tip is currently coded for 06201 which is incorrect. The proper code should be 06251 I believe which would make it the code for an AWD A4 with Tip according to a few things I have read. I have seen some things about "soft coding" or recoding the ECU using a VAG-COM. How do I access this code in order to change it? I don't own a VAG-COM but I have a friend who does and is willing to help if I can find out the procedure to doing this. Thanks in advance.

Default Select -> 01-Engine -> Coding

Practice here:<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/main_screen.html">Interactive Demo/Manual</a></li></ul>
