Default Gotcha. My car's a 2000 A4. Where is the igniter? Does it make sense that the light only

comes on when seat is moved back and forth? The movement of the seat for sure would move the connector and wiring, therefore that could definitely be the culprit.

Just curious if the seat movement might narrow it down to not being the igniter...

Default Thx. My friend had managed to clear the light once 4 me & I moved the seat back&forth

and light came on right when I was doing it... so i'm hoping it's a connector problem.

Default I've learned that a multimeter is not recommended!

Thanks to Diagnosticator1, I've learned that one never checks an airbag igniter with a multimeter for fear of setting the airbag off. Thanks diagnosticator1.

I did however state: "... you should refer to a repair manual to find out the test for a failed igniter." :-)

A resistance test from a multimeter will place a small current into the circuit. I guess it may have enough to set off the airbag if you get into the wrong place.

Again, thanks to diagnosticator for pointing out the safety issue.
