Default Replacing instrument cluster with used one

I bought a used instrument cluster for my 2003 Audi A4 on ebay in hopes of swapping it with my current defective instrument cluster.

I've come to find out that the mileage can be an issue when using a used one. I talked to Champion Audi in Pompano Beach, FL and they told me they would not replace it with a used one because of the liability issue with the incorrect mileage.

They said any shop with a VAG COM might do it. Is this true? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Default As long as you're "new but used" cluster has less miles than your car.....

it can be done, yes. If you have a VAG-COM, you can do it yourself.

The liability that Champion is afraid of is being accused of rolling back someone's odometer, which anyone could get severely punished for in this profession. The other angle I'm sure they're after, is to sell you a new cluster for thier profit, as any dealer would try to do.

Cluster replacement adaptation guidance may be in here?

Nope, you can ONLY roll a odometer FWD, only once, and only before the odo has counted to 100 km

Default Unfortunately I don't have a VAG COM. Where can I go to get it done in South Florida

I live in Fort Lauderdale. Anyone know of an independent shop or person that can do the procedure around here?

Default Ok, so you're saying the mileage can't be changed, but the used cluster can be programmed to work?

My main issue is getting the car to stop shutting down after ignition. It's stalling due to some electrical issue in the cluster.
