Default Scanned my car with help from a friend on the VAG locator db

Scanned my car with some help from a local person that I found in the vag db, but neither of us were experts so I was wondering if some of you could help out with the diagnosis. Here are the symptoms:

Low power, low boost and the cel was triggering. A standard code scanner reported it as a misfire, but the vag tool detected it as 17746 (Camshaft position sensor).

I've had problems with the car since I purchased it three months ago. Stuttering/bucking/hesitation, it's only boosting 3psi instead of the standard 7-8, and it's extremely sluggish below 3k rpm, then it seems to pick up (but still only 3psi of boost).

I've replaced the plugs, one coil pack (which I diagnosed via trial and error), replaced the air filter, and replaced the dv with a 710n. Here are the codes and notes that we came up with:

1) Ignition timing at idle varies between 8-12* BTDC. -- Group 010.
2) No-load throttle angle @ idle = 3.9*. -- Group 010.
3) 2500 rpm throttle produces ignition timing 24* BTDC.
4) Part-throttle timing correction goes down to -7 CF when on the gas. Let off
the gas
and it goes down to -27 CF. -- Group 012.
5) Misfire recognition blocks set to "Disabled." -- Group 015, 016.

Knock Control = Group 020
Knock Sensor Voltages (Group 026): 0.628-O.785V, 0.628V, 0.7-1.0, 0.785

6) O2 Sensor Control (Group 088) varies between -3.0 - 3.0.

Wastegate Valve Duty Cycle = Group 114
Engine Actual Torque = Group 122

7) Crankshaft Pos Status = 0110000 -- Group 131

Driving notes:
Knock sensor voltages on all 4 cylinder banks = 2-6V part throttle and as much
as 20V at WOT.
Timing is being retarded by 6* on all cylinders.
Part- and full-throttle give ignition timing 24-32* BTDC.

------------------------------------

I have a couple screen shots from the vag software that I'll try and put up soon. Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Default Do you think it's just cam timing or also engine t/b timing?

Does any of the data indicate that the timing itself is off? Or should the replacement of the cps likely take care of it? It's due for a new timing belt/tensioner within 10-15k miles, and I'm just wondering if it might have jumped a tooth or something.

Default however, looking at your ECU part#, you've got an AEB 5-speed...

so, let's scratch my first thought in the post above. Yes, it's probably worth replacing the cam sensor.

First check voltage between pins 1 and 3 of the connector and make sure you have at least 4.5v with ignition turned on. If that's ok, and you're sure you don't have any wiring issues between the connector and the engine ECU, replace the sensor.

Thank you! Yes it's a 99.5 1.8T. I'll check that and post back.
