Of course it is a Beta version, but I figured I'd share this anyway. After upgrading my VAG COM software, I get the following message when I try to connect to modules in my 2000 S4:
Controller uses unknown Protocol!
Protocol Keyword: FF6B
or
Controller uses unknown Protocol!
Protocol Keyword: FF01
I can connect to the engine module, but nothing else. I'll be switching back to version 504.1.

Try Force Dumb Mode on the Options screen.
510.0 (and 506.0 before it) use an "enhanced" mode on the KEY-series interfaces. Earlier versions treated them as "Dumb" dongles. Yours is the first report of problems with that. Not quiet sure what to make of it yet. What kind of PC? What version of Windows?

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition on a relatively new Dell Inspiron 9300 Notebook. Its running with a 1.86Ghz Pentium M CPU and 1Gb of RAM.
I'll wait to switch back to 504.1, and try changing the setting you mentioned this evening, and will report back with my findings.
Please let me know if there is any other info that might help.
Thanks for your reply.

it resets to having it unchecked whenever I exit the program. Then, when I reload the software again, the option is dimmed and I need to click "Test" to have it as a clickable option again.
What should I do? Do you have any other ideas for me, or should I just switch back the the previous release? Thanks.

Any chance you could bring that system by sometime so I could have a look?
We have no other reports which match this, but one thing I've learned over the years is that the first person that reports a particular problem likley won't be the last.

exit 31 of I-476, 2 exits south of where you would get on.
When is convenient for you?
