Audi Other 2004 S4 Sedan - dead motor

The engine on my 2004 S4 Sedan recently lost compression on multiple cylinders. My mechanic recommends a complete engine replacement, but I don't have the stomach for a repair that will cost around $8k (I don't have the skill or time to do the work myself)
I'm the second owner of this vehicle. I bought it CPO from an Audi dealer in '07 when the car had around 30k miles on it.
Features/Options:
- Dolphin Gray Sedan
- ~90k Miles
- 6 speed manual transmission
- Recaro leather sport seats
- Premium package (power moonroof; power/heated/folding exterior mirrors; power memory front seats; Automatic headlights controls)
- Heated Front Seats
- XM radio
- Power Rear and Manual Side Sunshades
Issues:
In addition to the non-operating engine, this car shows some other signs of it's age: several small dents/scratches on the body, a broken glove box hinge, broken cup holder, and curb rash on the wheels.
Despite the issues list above, this was a great daily driver just a couple of weeks ago - drawing compliments from other dads at my son's school. There is plenty of value in this car either for someone who is willing to do the engine replacement, or for someone who wants the parts. It's hard to place a value on it, but I'm asking for $3k or best offer.
If you are interested, I'm happy to share photos and additional information.

I've had some questions come in via PM. So, I'll add those answers here for anyone other folks who are interested.
The car is located in Chicago.
This car had two accidents, both in the last year. One hit to the driver's door, which was completely replaced and is under warranty. In the other case the car was driven over a large rock, which damaged the radiator from the bottom. It was replaced by a German-import specialist mechanic.
I don't have current pictures of the car, as it's been at the shop since the motor died, and I can't get in there on a weekend. I'm including links to some pictures from a few years back, so you can see the car. Please don't use these to judge the current condition of the vehicle. It has a several more years of wear on it now.
