78 Fox GTI Starting Restoration
Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum but figured I'd get my feet wet here in getting all the information I need to restore my Audi.
I have a 78 Audi Fox GTI. It's not running at the moment (engine pulled) and I am going to start an intense and complete restoration this summer.
I have two options as far as the motor and transmission goes. I can restore/rebuild the original or transplant the driveline from a 1991 Audi A4. I'm not sure what I should do here. Suggestions are appreciated.
I do want to restore the interior with the original corduroy(sp) seats and I am looking for an original Blaupunkt am/fm cassette that used to be in the radio slot.
Any help with vendors, parts, and other resources would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome!
Hey, we are practically neighbors. I'm from Twin Falls. I have a '79 Fox GTI. Mechanical parts are easy to find, it's the body and interior pieces that are really rare. Especially for a GTI.

Good to meet you neighbor.
Well, at least you're my car's neighbor. The car is in Boise and I am in Houston. I will transport the car down here this summer. I'm not looking forward to the long-haul but if I want to work on her it's what I have to do.
